At 20, R. L. Gemmill hitchhiked from Virginia to California to visit relatives, climbed Handy’s Peak in southern Colorado, and had all his food stolen by ground squirrels in the Grand Canyon. He taught biology and anatomy for 32 years and is now retired.
Gemmill’s favorite quote (which saved him from depression and worse) is “If your life bores you, risk it.” James Dickey, author of Deliverance.
Gemmill has long had an infatuation with the end of the world, and when he began writing, there was always a hint that he would end up in that direction. He has planned twelve different book series that deal in some way with apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic or dystopian worlds.
